Post Graduation Work Regulation

Post-Study Work Visa (APS – Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour)

After completing a master’s degree (or higher), international students can apply for a temporary residence permitknown as the APS (Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour). The APS is valid for 12 months, extendable for an additional 12 months (a total of two years). The APS allows graduates to stay in France and look for employment or start their own business. During this period, graduates can work without restrictions in any sector.

Once a job is secured relevant to the qualifications during the APS period, one can apply for a work residence permit(valid for 5 years). Employers in certain industries (like tech or engineering) may have fewer bureaucratic hurdles, especially under agreements encouraging skilled migration.

The EU Blue Card

The EU Blue Card is a residence and work permit designed for highly skilled non-EU workers, including graduates who have completed a Master’s degree or higher from a recognized institution, and the job offer you receive must match your qualifications. Moreover, the salary required is typically around €56,000–€60,000 per year. The EU Blue Card is granted for up to 2 years, and it can be renewed and also allows graduates to work in France or move to other EU countries for similar jobs.
